Presidents Message JUN 2013

Hello members! Really don't know what is going on with spring or the
weather this year, but all seems a little different. Last meeting we had in
attendance 100 members and visitors and with net donations of $1843. Not a
bad night! Dan had a great turn out up at Silver City for the claims seminar,
with about 14 members that had shown up. All had a great time and walked
away with the correct way to do the filling and marking of any claims that they
wish to do so for them selves in the future. Dan has taken care of this
responsibility for the club for a long time and has done very well with it.
Please make a note that the mailing address for the memberships has changed.
The new address is 1170 north 660 west, Orem Utah 84097 and David roe is still
the membership person for this year. Also remember that the membership card
for this year are the bright green ones, not the red or blue. We haven't
heard how the Notch Peak outing had turned out. So If you were out on this
outing please bring your finds for the month in and see if you will be a winner
for a second time. Not knowing how many members are GPAA members also. In
the June/July 2013 issue on the front page. Has a big story on how the front
running environmental groups, are trying to angle for a $9 million dollar
grant to dredge Lake Combie Reservoir in California. This is to mine and
dredge for the mercury and with an added bonus in excess of $1 million in gold.
So all these years they closed down dredging in Calif. due to the fact that
it hurts the environment and exposing the mercury during that process is very
destructive also. They will be using the larger dredges that have a
tendency to throw the mercury right back in the streams (6" or larger). There's
mercury all over the place. It's got nothing to do with mining today. They are
using it as a ploy to get millions of dollars in grant money for their cause
and nothing more! The environmental groups are sticking their hands out for
the taxpayers dollars, for a job that gold dredgers have offered to do it
for free. And now back on the home front. We have gotten a full update on the
Little Sevier claim down in the Mill Creek area. From the pictures that
were taken two week before Memorial Day weekend and the one's that the FS have
sent me, the damage that's happening on the claim still continues. These are
not club member's that are crating the problems but believed that they are
no affiliation to any club or claim owner in the area. The fact is the
person responsible for the problem was bragging around to what he was doing. So
as a club we will move this up to the next level. The club is now putting a
$100. bounty on the person or person's that are causing the problems down
there. We have contacted the US Marshall Service in Salt Lake on how to take
care of this problem. If you are caught trespassing on a Federal Mining Claim
without the claimants knowledge, that imposes a fine of $10,000. If you are
caught on the claim with any gold in your possession from the claim, this is
a $100,000. fine plus Federal jail time. You will need pictures and
lic-plate number to verify the offenders. I've talked to the claim owner that buts
up to our claim on the down river east side of it and he is planning to
start a bigger project on his claims and does not want that type of problem
there also. He does not play very well with claim-jumpers and will not tolerate
it at all. My contact number and claims manager are in the newsletter as
well as the other officer's and any can be notified if needed. We now have the
information on who should be down on those claims and who should not. A
quick note from the FS that they will still be checking for membership cards
down there and please when working any of the creeks down there. The "wetted
perimeter" means the wetted area of the creek when your activity is taking
place. Not the high level mark, or the hundred year flood zone. But it means
the wetted area of the stream period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last but not least.
The speaker for the next meeting will be Doug Wood. He will be covering the
importance of gold in our lives and what the future will hold on this. This
is not an investment scam, or selling. Just plan hard cold facts that we
can all still learn from. Of what's to be expected and why. Hope to see all of
you at the next meeting and be safe out there.
Thanks, Phil
And closing quote" You gain strength, courage and confidence by every
experience in which you really stop and look fear in the face. You must do the
things in which you think you cannot do!!!!
